Access The Museo Nacional del Prado have these entrances to the building: Jeronimos Gate Puerta de Murillo Puerta de Goya Alta South Ionian Gallery When planning your trip to Madrid, the Prado Museum is a must , so you must pencil in in your diary to visit at least the most important works of the great painters that are housed in this museum. While not everyone is a big fan of painting, even with time being tight when you come to Madrid this must not prevent you taking at least two hours to enjoy masterpieces in the Prado. Tips for your visit to the Museo del Prado and to see the “not to be missed “works: • Once you have bought your ticket at the ticket office at the Puerta de Goya in Plaza Lealtad, opposite the Hotel Ritz, go up the stairs and enter the museum at the top of this access . • While the main facilities for visitor services (café, shop ...) are at the entrance by the Puerta Jeronimos, Puerta de Goya offers complimentary basic services such as luggage or audio guides. • When entering do not forget to ask for a brochure with a map of the Museo del Prado, which is a must to get around the various rooms, while informing you where the main paintings are located . . • Upon entering the Puerta de Goya, you come directly to the main and most majestic gallery of the Museo del Prado, with its large arched roof and skylights which light up the room. • In this large gallery, as you enter you can see the great Titian painting "The Emperor Charles V on horseback," and further on, one of the masterpieces of José de Ribera, "Jacob's Dream" (room 26 ), and "La Inmaculada" (room 29) by Murillo. THE THREE GRACES" OF RUBENS NATIONAL MUSEUM OF MADRID THE PRADO • If you enter the first door on the left of this great gallery, you arrive immediately to Hall 9, where you find the famous painting "The Three Graces" by Rubens, and 9B, "The Adoration of the Magi". • In nearby room 7 you have the best example of Rembrandt, "Artemis". • And it is through this area, between rooms 8A to 10A where you can enjoy the great works of El Greco, among which "The Knight with hand on his chest" or "The Trinity". • And once you get to the area dedicated to Velazquez, where in the that large room and successive ones 12, to 16, you will see his great masterpieces. • At the bottom of the large main gallery on the 1st floor you have a group of masterpieces by Goya, like "The Family of Charles IV" or "Majas". • To view the rest of the paintings of Goya, you must climb to the 2nd floor, where they are distributed in smaller rooms, and then down to the floor 0 of the Museum where you will find the “black paintings” • As you go through a maze of rooms on this floor, you find the majestic painting "Isabel la Católica dictating her will", Rosales (room 61B) and a sample of painting by Sorolla, "Children on the Beach" (60A room). VELAZQUEZ DOOR IN THE PRADO MUSEUM OF MADRID • After crossing the service area for visitors at the Puerta de Velazquez, you come to another set of rooms where great masterpieces of Flemish and Italian painting from the Prado are concentrated. • On your visit to the Museo del Prado, it is imperative that you enjoy the famous paintings of Hieronymus Bosch, "The Garden of Earthly Delights" and "The table of deadly sins" (Room 56A). In the same room you have "The Triumph of Death" by Brueghel. • Also in this area P0, in the large hall 49, you have two outstanding works of Raphael, "Cardinal" and "La Virgen del pez". In this room you can also see "The Annunciation" by Fra Angelico, and "The Death of the Virgin" by Mantegna. And in room 55B, the "Self Portrait" by Dürer. • Finally, you can leave the Museo del Prado by Jeronimos Door, located in the new annex building in Los Jerónimos, and there you'll find, among other services, the café and the museum shop.
