The best ally against Coronavirus is the outdoors. Whether in Madrid or anywhere else in Spain, there are many parks and gardens where you can play with your children and comply with all health regulations. Most of the sources of Coronavirus infection have been registered indoors, so we believe that the outdoors is essential to contain the virus and allow it to live as fast as possible. It is true that we have taken all the necessary hygiene measures to lead a normal life in an enclosed space, but, even so, it is recommended that you enjoy nature in your free time.
Therefore, according to health indications, we invite you to try to do as many outdoor activities as possible. For example, have lunch and dinner on terraces, walk in the park, participate in outdoor recreational activities, tours of the main monuments and areas of the city ... and many other things that will make you forget a little about the situation of the pandemic. And in this way leisure activities will not be reduced, there are alternative plans, and little by little we will be able to defeat the virus together and allow companies dedicated to leisure, travel and tourism to survive.
That's why we want to present you one of the best outdoor plans in Madrid: a walk around Madrid Río. A pedestrian area, which goes from Príncipe Pío to Legazpi, full of vitality, where you can have a drink, walk, run, skate, ride a bike and contemplate the Manzanares River.
Along approximately 7 kilometers, you can enjoy the road and take advantage of the good weather in Madrid to walk. To get to know Madrid Rio, we recommend starting the tour at Príncipe Pío, where you can enjoy wonderful views of famous monuments in Madrid such as: the Almudena Cathedral, the Royal Palace and the España building located in the Plaza de España area.
The best time to go is before seven in the evening, either for a walk or for sport. Shortly after the area where the monuments can be seen, there is a bar where you can have a drink and take a break. We will also have a short kilometer to reach the soccer stadium of Atletico Madrid, the Vicente Calderon, where the footballers can take a nice picture.
At kilometer 4.60 there is a beautiful bridge, a bar and a recreational area for children, at 5.20 a very modern metal bridge, and soon after the famous beach of Madrid. And behind the beach of Madrid, are the sports facilities and a park for children, where they can enjoy a zip line. Finally, we will arrive at Legazpi, where you can visit the Matadero, a recently created cultural center, with varied rooms and full of activities.
