Founded in 1992, the Reina Sofía has the periods not covered by the Museo del Prado, exhibiting works from 1881, the year of the birth of Pablo Picasso. The visitors will need between one and two hours to cover the most important parts and see the major works. Free tour On Saturday afternoon, Sunday mornings and other days from 19:00 hours the museum is free, we recommend going at this time to have time for other activities. Interestingly, the museum is housed in the former Hospital of San Carlos, a building built in the late eighteenth century.
