  • Museum Cerralbo

If you happen to be near the temple of Debod we recommend visiting this fantastic museum, a practically intact 19th century palace. The architecture and its decoration remain almost intact, giving us an idea of how the wealthy classes lived in the 19th century. You will have the opportunity to pass through the ballroom, the office, the kitchen, the bedrooms, with the objects that the Marquis of Cerralbo (a marquis who worked as an archeologist and historian) collected throughout his life. One of the favorite museums of Ortega y Gasset, where we find great jewels of the romantic era: paintings by Goya, objects of Juan Ramon Jimenez, Zorrilla or Larra. Access is free.   • Museum Lázaro Galdiano 

We arrive at a museum unknown even to most Madrid residents, which houses a fascinating collection of 15,000 paintings and art objects, spanning 24 centuries of history. The collection of José Lázaro Galdiano, a lover of painting and a scholar of the time, includes paintings by Goya, El Bosco, Murillo and Zurbarán, as well as an important collection of works from the Dutch and English schools, and wonderful Renaissance ornamental silverwork. 122 Serrano Street.
