Chocolate with churros is a typical dish of Spanish gastronomy, and if you come to Madrid, and more at this time, you cannot miss it. It is usually consumed as breakfast, and on other occasions, as a snack. This dish is a balanced flavor contrast between the sweetness of chocolate and the salty and oily aroma of churros or porras. A traditional tradition that appears even in classical literature (Luces de Bohemia de Valle-Inclán) and that leads us to begin our route through the best-known site.  

The Chocolatería San Ginés. Pasadizo de San Ginés, 5 (Madrid). In the heart of Madrid, probably one of the most emblematic places in the city. A bar reminiscent of the cafes of the late nineteenth century. It has two floors, with traditional white marble tables and a tiled counter, where you can enjoy a traditional chocolate and churros, other soft drinks and a variety of pastries. It is open until the early hours and people can gather to enjoy different types of breakfast.

We also find La Antigua Churrería. In C / Bravo Murillo, 190 (Madrid). The origins of this bar date back to 1913, when Mr. Julio Quiroga set up a churrería in Puente de Ventas, and it ended up becoming a family tradition that has passed from father to son. They result in one of the best chocolates with churros in all of Madrid, because everything is made by hand, following the recipe of the great-grandmother Juana, based on the perfect combination of water, salt, flour, oil and pampering.

Continuing with our route, we reach the Churrería Antonio Chocolatier. In C / de la Sierra Vieja, 75 (Madrid). Since 1935, three generations have passed through the counter. Now it is Antonio Martínez, who runs the place, in charge of making these churros and porras, qualified as one of the best places in all of Madrid.

And finally, with a more modern touch, but without losing the essence, we have the Churrería Chocolatería Las Farolas. In C / Mayor, 11 (Madrid). Mayte Sánchez, co-owner of the brand, explained that high-quality raw materials and traditional recipes are used. The churros are totally artisan and the chocolate is exquisite. Founded in 2013, it already has eight stores in Madrid.
