Since the Riu hotel reopened the Edificio España and the green renovation of the iconic Plaza de España was completed

Since the Riu hotel reopened the Edificio España and the green renovation of the iconic Plaza de España was completed, many brands have chosen this environment as the new shopping epicentre of Madrid. Thus, Zara opened its largest store in the world on the ground floor of the building: 7,700 square meters, divided into four floors with futuristic aesthetics and services: smart fitting rooms, an online shopping collection robot, a chill area, unmanned checkouts... Together with Zara, this summer the new Mango megastore opened its doors: 1,500 square meters distributed over three floors of Mediterranean concept (New Med): sustainable, covered with local natural stone, with exhibition tables made from textile waste and with paint that absorbs CO2.

Next to Plaza España, the Salesas neighbourhood has been filled with design and fashion shops. This summer, Thinking Mu's first store outside Barcelona opened, with textile designs for women with a Mediterranean essence: handmade pieces and natural materials. More news in the neighborhood? The French brand Jimmy Fairly sells the trendiest glasses here (and has opened a new store in the Salamanca neighborhood this summer) and Peseta returns to the neighborhood, after many years, with the colorful printed clothes of the designer Laura del Pozo. These are just some of the newcomers to an area full of surprises that are worth discovering on foot.
